Olive Lorraine Weltz, daughter of Adolf and Minnie Louise (Prosch) Weltz, was born July 8, 1920 in Judd, ND. As a child she moved with her family to Minnesota. She graduated from Bingham Lake (MN) High School. Olive then moved with her family to California. She worked as a welder in the shipyards for a short time before entering the U.S. Army in July of 1944 and served during World War II. Olive was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in June of 1946. She remained in California for a short time before moving to Luverne, MN where she worked as a telephone operator.
Olive was united in marriage with Lowell Clair Wagley in Luverne on November 10, 1948. The couple farmed near Hadley, MN before moving to Sioux Falls, SD in 1956.
Olive was a member of East Side Lutheran Church and the Mothers of Twins Club.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Lowell "Bud" Wagley, Sioux Falls, SD; five children, Laurine Dolen and her husband, Rick, Lincoln, NE, Sandra Hanson and her husband, Bill, Brighton, CO, Jerry Wagley and his wife, Kim, Sioux Falls, SD, Larry Wagley and his wife, Kathy, Chester, SD, Terry Wagley and his wife, Barb, Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren, Troy Dolen, Chance Hanson, Andrew Wagley, Ashley Wagley, Nicole Wagley, Dawn MacKinsey and her husband, Scott, Ryan Wagley; one step-great-granddaughter, Joslyn MacKinsey; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Olive was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, June Clark, Viola McMinimy and Ruby Carter.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at East Side Lutheran Church following the committal service.
