John William Wallace, son of William and Jeanetta (Wiebesiek) Wallace, was born on February 14, 1942 on a farm near Roswell, SD. John moved with his family to Huron, SD, where he began his schooling. The family later moved to Egan, SD. In the mid 1950's, John moved with his family to Sioux Falls, SD. He attended Beadle School and Washington High School.
John entered the U.S. Army on February 24, 1961, and was stationed in Germany. John received an award as a sharp shooter. He was honorably discharged on February 20, 1964. He returned to Sioux Falls and worked with a sheepshearer. He was later employed at Dakota Turf and Cycle Delivery.
After John became disabled, he made his home in Sioux Falls. He then made his home at Helping Hands Assisted Living in Brandon, SD. He later moved to Morningside Manor in Alcester, SD.
John was a member of DAV in Sioux Falls. He enjoyed leather crafts, copper tooling, eating ice cream and wearing his cowboy hat.
Grateful for having shared his life are two sisters, Violet Moulton and her husband, Donald, Sioux Falls, SD, Laura Moulton and her husband, Vern, Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, Robert Wiebesiek and his wife, Marcella, Council Bluffs, IA; three children; 15 nieces and nephews; 23 great-nieces and nephews; four great-great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother in infancy.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at George Boom Funeral Home following the committal service.
