Francis J. Mainolfi, son of Pasquale and Margaret (Ricci) Mainolfi, was born April 29, 1916 in Rutland, VT. He grew up in the Rutland area and attended schools there. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. While in the Air Corps he was moved to Sioux Falls where he met and married Jane Schaefer on August 19, 1944. He was honorably discharge on December 5, 1945 in Rome, NY.

After his discharge the couple made their home in Sioux Falls where Francis began working as a tailor. Over the years he worked for Davis Tailors, F.M. Tailors and Simpson Tailors. Francis retired in 1980 from the tailoring business.

Francis was a member of the Sioux Falls American Legion Post 15, the Elks Lodge, Sioux Falls downtown Rotary, and was a life member of the DAV.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Jane Mainolfi, Sioux Falls, SD; children, Marie (Daryl) Paulsen, Steen, MN, SueAnn Binder, Irving, TX, and John (Tammy) Mainolfi, Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Evelyn Brown, Manchester, NY and Norma Livingston, Endwell, NY.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Pasquale and Margaret; a sister and one brother.
