Bernard Dee Smith
Barb Thaler
Hartford
Smith family:I have to address this to the whole family as the majority of you have been intertwined with our lives in Hartford since we have been here. From the kids being friends, to Barney on the city council, to Pat being the newspaper correspondent, to Anna at the VA. You guys are everywhere, helping everybody! You are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.Hold those precious memories of Barney in your heart, as no one can take those away from you. I am so glad I was able to know Barney, both in Hartford and at the VA. What a man!! He is finally at peace and I hope that helps heal your hearts at this difficult time.Barb, Daniel, Vanessa(and Brayden) Andrew and Regina Thaler

Pat and family, we are sorry to hear of your loss. I remember the first time I met Barney, he was on the council and my mailbox had just been run over by the city crew removing snow. I will always remember that day fondly. Not because my mailbox was smashed but because it led to me meeting the two of you. Then I had the pleasure of serving on the council with Barney. It was good to have an ally sitting by my side. Barney was a GREAT man and will never be forgotten. Our Love, Thoughts, and Prayers go out to his family.

Uncle Barney was in my memeories as a young girl growing up the funniest, kindest, most lovable person next to my dad, Uncle Barney's brother Drexel. They looked alot alike and both had a lot of love to give. I remember his mustache and he would always tickle with it. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Uncle Barney, Gramma Smith and my dad Sonny are up there visiting up a storm and will be watching over us all. All my love, Penny, Jerry and Joe Fey,daughter Amy Weber, My grandson Austin Partee and my son Jeff Weber.

Peacefully, sleep comes to a dear, beloved heart. Quietly, we understand the time has come to part. Tenderly, the love shines on--a never-ending light. Gratefully, we feel its warmth and say, "Sweet dreams, good-night."My thoughts are with you all in the loss of Barney.Cecile Binkerd

Pat, as I read Bernie's obituary I smiled thinking of the delightful man he was and how I enjoyed laughing with the both of you. Fifty-four years is truly a gift and I'm glad you were able to spend these with each other.

Aunt Pat and kids,I will always remember the fun we had when Mom and Dad would bring us to your house. I remember Uncle Barneys riding lawn mower. He had such an awesome sense of humor. I am so sorry for your loss. If there is anything I can do, please don't hesitate to ask. I love you all and May God Bless.

My dear friend Anna.....I am so very sorry for your loss. Your Father sounds like an amazing man and did great things during his time here on Earth. What an AMAZING place he is now at...no suffering or pain...and I am sure like my mother who passed just a year ago ...the hardest thing for your father was leaving his wonderful wife, children and grandchildren. It is amazing to think someday we will all be together in Gods great Heaven....I am here for you Anna..please call me whenever you need something..to talk..to cry...I am here. YOU are one of the greatest friends I have...and I love you...please lean on me...much love to your mother and family...everyone is in our prayers. God Bless. Trent, Kellie, Haley and Macy Melum
