Brandon, SD – Bruce A. Larson, 79, died Saturday, February 06, 2010 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
A funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the George Boom Funeral Chapel in Brandon, SD with a visitation beginning 1 hour prior.
Bruce Allen Larson, the son of Vernie and Ellen (Olson) Larson was born December 3, 1930 in Alcester, SD. He attended high school in Alcester. Bruce entered the U.S. Army in 1952 and served until his honorable discharge in 1953. In 1958, Bruce enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving until 1962.
On February 28, 1964, Bruce was united in marriage with Lilas Huebner in Sioux Falls. That same year, the couple moved to Colorado. Bruce was a carpenter, and worked for American Builder’s Company framing houses. He later worked for Hugh M. Woods Lumberyard, before the couple moved back to Sioux Falls.
Bruce was a member of the VFW in Colorado. He liked to work with wood, work on old cars, and tinker with things in the garage. Bruce enjoyed swimming, and was on a bowling league for a short time.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Lilas; two daughters, Laurie (Vern) Kaler; Shelly (Dale) Trigg; two grandchildren, Vanessa Kaler and Ryan Kaler, all of Brandon; two sisters, Berniece Sandvall, Alcester, SD, Clarice (Milton) Skancke, Sioux Falls; and a brother, Wendell Larson, Dayton, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Donald “Bud” and Dale.
